PTs Can Help Asthma Patients Breathe Easier

A new opportunity has opened up for physical therapists, thanks to a request from the American Physical Therapy Association.

Physical therapists now can sit for the certified asthma educator examination, to become Asthma Educator-Certified (AE-C). APTA reports that in its acceptance letter, the National Asthma Education Certification Board said it was "excited" to offer this opportunity to PTs.

Other disciplines that may sit for the exam are licensed physicians, physicians€™ assistants, nurses, respiratory therapists, pulmonary function technologists, pharmacists, social workers and health educators.

For more information, go to the National Asthma Educator Certification Board web site.
