The Cost of Not Having a Web Site

Consumers and physicians alike are going to the web more often to quickly identify providers of therapy services, yet a large number of private practices are still not represented on the Internet. Considering the trends in healthcare, it is in your best interest to get beyond the barriers, real or perceived(e.g. cost factor; don't have time to develop one; don't know how to get started) and instead ask yourself, "What is the potential loss if I DON'T have a web site?"

A perfect example is Pat Petersen’s experience (Pat is PREFERRED’s Payor Reports Coordinator) – Pat explained to her doctor about PREFERRED’s web site and our provider locator option. Pat’s doctor went to our web site and liked many of the features we had, especially our Provider Locator because she was able to find the PT’s and clinics in her geographic area. Pat’s doctor also liked the fact that she was able to find clinics that had web sites of their own which showcased the equipment a clinic uses because she said it helps her when referring a patient with specific needs.

Members: Keep this tidbit in mind! It's important to keep the information and pictures on your web site* up-to-date. Equally as important, let PREFERRED know if you add or change specialized services or equipment so that we can promote an accurate profile of your clinic on the Provider Locator section of our web site.

If you do NOT have a web site, you are not as visible as your competitors. Consumers may choose someone else. Referral sources (docs, case managers, employers) may not know you exist. What is the cost of losing business compared to the cost of creating and maintaining a web site? One patient could very well cover your cost for a basic web site, two patients for something spectacular.

To review your clinic's profile, go to www.preferredtherapy.com and click on the "Provider Locator Coast-to-Coast" icon at the top of the screen. To update your information, print your profile from the web site, make changes directly on the printout, and fax to us at 623-869-9102.
